KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) leadership has reversed the order of collecting signboard fees from shopkeepers, a new decree said on Wednesday.
The first clause of the first article said: “Collecting signboards fee from shopkeepers is banned and charging this fee should be avoided.”
It second clause said: “Signboards related to the municipalities and those signboards for which the municipalities issues licenses were exempted from the fee collection decree article first clause first.”
The second article of the decree said that this decree is enforced from the date of its issuance and should be printed in the official gazette.
Niamatullah Barakzai, the representative of Kabul Municipality, confirmed to Pajhwok the decree.
He said: “The decree is very clear and we will organize our affairs accordingly but for more clarification, we will provide details after our technical meeting.”
Abdul Haq Hammad, former head of the media monitoring, on his Twitter handle, wrote that shopkeepers earlier complained about high taxes now the leadership decree is issued shopkeepers will not be charged against their signboards.
