KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has rejected claims by Pakistani officials that an attack on a police station in Bannu was planned from Afghanistan, calling the allegations baseless and unfounded.
Fifteen police personnel were killed and four others wounded in a vehicle-borne suicide blast on a police post in the Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on May 9.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan said on Monday night it summoned Afghan ambassador in Islamabad over the blast and handed him a protest demarche.
In response, Zabihullah Mujahid, chief spokesman for IEA, wrote on his X account that recent statements by Pakistani officials claiming the Bannu police attack was planned in Afghanistan were “baseless” and rejected them.
He said IEA believes that problems should be resolved through dialogue, mutual respect and practical cooperation rather than accusations, threats and emotional approaches.
He added that IEA once again clarified its position that Afghan soil will not be used against any country, nor will anyone be allowed to carry out activities that harm regional security and stability.
