KABUL (Pajhwok): Islamic Emirate chief spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid has assured Tajikistan that no military activity will be allowed along the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border.
The statement comes after Tajikistan’s State Committee for National Security reported that two Afghan citizens had been killed in a border clash, saying they had illegally entered Tajikistan and were involved in drug trafficking.
Mujahid told the media that some activity had taken place along the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border several days ago, but the situation was now under control.
“There are problems to this extent everywhere,” he said.
Mujahid said drug traffickers had operated along the border in the past and used the route for movement. However, he said there was no serious military confrontation or security problem apart from such incidents.
He stressed that no military activity would be allowed along the border between the two countries and assured that Afghan territory would not be used against Tajikistan.
