KABUL): Nine people, including six Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers, two police officials and one fighter were killed in two separate incidents, officials said on Sunday.
A statement from the Ministry of Defence said the soldiers killed in a militant ambush them on their way to the Bala Baluk district of southwestern Farah province. Another three soldiers were wounded.
In other news, a district police chief was killed along with his security guard in a clash with Taliban in Taloqan, the capital of northern Takhar province.
The clash left one fighter dead and another detained, Takhar’s deputy police chief told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Two security guards of the police chief and a rebel were also wounded during the firefight, Mahmood Al Hassan Shahidzada Ikrami said.
