JALALABAD (PAN): Afghan fast bowler, Hamid Hassan who suffered a nasty injury during the ongoing test match between the ICC combined-XI and England in Dubai a day earlier, would recover in two weeks, an official said on Monday.
Hassan was injured after he fell over a fence on the boundary and collided with concrete and metal runners around the sightscreen. He was eventually cleared of serious injury after being taken to hospital on a stretcher.
His pullout from the warm-up game dealt a blow to the Combined-XI, a mixture of players from ICC affiliate nations. Three Afghan players -- Hamid Hassan, Mohammad Nabi and Mohammad Shahzad Mohammad -- are part of the team.
Four Irish, three Scottish, two Namibian and one United Arab Emirates (UAE) players are included in the ICC Combined-XI. The three-day test is scheduled to conclude today.
An ACB official, Nasrullah Wafa, said Hassan was injured as he fell over the white picket fence at the long-on boundary and bruised his right thigh and left knee. "Hassan is recovering," ACB chairman Nasimullah Danish said.
Danish said he had a telephonic conversation with Hassan, who is under medical care. He has been advised two-week rest and will be able to return after that.
Danish assured the people of Afghanistan in a tournament scheduled to begin next month.
