KABUL Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Wednesday said her visit to Kabul was aimed at enhancing bilateral goodwill and all-round cooperation.
At a meeting after her arrival in Kabul, she discussed with President Hamid Karzai the ongoing peace process and threat posed to the neighbouring countries by terrorism.
Khar invited Karzai to attend a trilateral meeting among Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran. Islamabad will host the session in mid-February, the Presidential Palace said.
According to a statement from Karzai’s office, the visiting foreign minister reiterated Pakistan’s robust support for the reconciliation project, led by the Afghan government.
Islamabd could play a proactive role in promoting the peace negotiations, believed the president, who said insecurity had hampered the development of the two nations.
Fundamentalism was a sinister conspiracy that had damaged peace in the region, Karzai said, calling for a joint struggle for peace and stability.
