SHARAN/GHAZNI (PAN): Five policemen and a young woman have been killed in separate security incidents in Paktika and Ghazni provinces, officials said on Wednesday.
Three policemen were killed and two others wounded late on Tuesday when their pick-up struck a roadside bombing in Zherai area of the Khoshamand district of Paktika province, the provincial police chief said.
Brig. Gen. Dawlat Khan Zadran told Pajhwok Afghan News two Afghan Local Police (ALP) members were killed and two others injured in separate clashes with militants in Sar Rawza and Sarobi districts.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed one policeman was killed and two others wounded during a clash in Sar Rawza.
According to another report, a woman was killed by her brother in the Deh Yak district of Ghazni on Tuesday evening. The district, Deh Yak police head, Faiz Mohammad Topan, said the motive not clear, but an investigation was ongoing.
A resident of the area, who did not want to be named, said the woman was axed to death. She was fatally hit in the head and neck, the dweller said, without commenting on the motive.
