BEIJING (PAN and China would sign four memoranda of understanding (MoUs) on bilateral cooperation in Beijing on Friday, President Hamid Karzai’s spokesman said on Thursday.
After addressing the Europe-Asia Economic Forum in Xian, Karzai arrived in Beijing at the head of a high-level delegation for talks with top Chinese leaders, including President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang and others.
Aimal Faizi told Pajhwok Afghan News one of the MoUs pertaining to economic and technical cooperation would be signed between Chinese Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng and Karzai’s National Security Advisor Rangin Dadfar Spanta.
A second agreement on prisoners’ exchange will be signed by Deputy Foreign Minister Ershad Ahmadi and his Chinese counterpart Li Baodong. The third deal between Kabul and Xiang universities and the fourth on renewal of mining contracts.
Before Friday noon, Karzai would meet the Chinese premier before holding talks with Xi Jinping in Beijing, Faizi said. Late on Thursday, the president held talks with China’s deputy prime minister on expansion of trade ties.
National Security Advisor Rangin Dadfar Spanta, Minister of Mines and Petroleum Wahidullah Shahrani, President Advisor in International Affairs Yahya Marufi, Abdul Karim Khuram, chief of staff of the president’s office, and the chief presidential spokesman Aimal Faizi are accompanying Karzai.
