The contribution would benefit an estimated 13,198 people living within 500m ofcontaminated areas. The number of indirect beneficiaries is estimated at 456,885, according to the embassy of Japan.
A statement from the embassy said the contribution would facilitate the clearance of an estimated 1.76 million squaremetres of recorded landmine and explosive remnants of war (ERW) in Kandahar, Kunduz, andFarah provinces.
