Danish Karokhel’s 2 books launched in Kabul event

KABUL (Pajhwok): Two books titled “Human Trafficking” and “Professional Journalism” authored by Pajhwok Afghan News Director Danish Karokhel were launched at a function in Kabul yesterday evening.

The event organized by international foundation Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) and Pajhwok Afghan News on Friday evening in Kabul was attended by many academicians  , writers, journalists, parliamentarian, government officials and book readers.

Ellinor Zeino, head of Konrad Adenauer Foundation, made a brief speech about introduction to the program, the two books written by Danish Karokhel and his writings

She praised the two books for providing vital contemporary information to journalists and writers about human trafficking, saying the books were also important for analysts to get benefit of its information.

Later, Danish Karokhel welcomed guests to the program and thanked Knorad Adenauer Foundation for printing and reviewing the two books.

Talking to the audience, Karokhel said the decades of war in Afghanistan left it undeveloped besides creating many other miseries, affecting people morally, academically and economically.

 “I am one of those affected by the miseries of war, I was even more affected when we explored stories of human trafficking in society that people can hardly even bear hearing. During a project earlier, this situation forced me to write a book about human trafficking so people who still do not know about the issue will get informed,” he said.

He said Professional Journalism was his second book that he wrote getting benefit of his 20 years of professional experience, based on accepted journalism standards.

“This is the second edition of Professional Journalism which is written in 18 chapters and include subjects about reporting on war, gender sensitivity, journalists’ protection and access to information,” he said.

Karokhel also spoke about importance of books and influence of media over the past 18 years in the country.

He mentioned poverty, joblessness, lack of information about migrant trafficking, foreign countries’ plots and some other factors which lead to human trafficking.

Habibullah Rafi, a member of Afghanistan Sciences Academy and a writer, spoke about balance, necessity and importance of Professional Journalism book and called the work an important step in modern journalism.

President’s advisor Malali Shinwari, Killid Group’s director Najibi Ayoubi, Wesa Daily newspaper’s chief editor Zubair Shafiqi, Integrity Watch Afghanistan head Sayed Akram Afzali and civil society activist Mushtaq Rahimi also talked in details about the two books.

Najib Manali, a prominent writer, suggested there was need for more books about important subjects in Pashto language so the language would get rich and people find access to wider subjects in their native language.

Four books have so far been written by Danish Karokhel and some of his other works are ready for printing.
