AIBAK (Pajhwok): Wheat production in northern Samangan province is estimated at more than 72,000 tons this year -- 60 percent more compared to last year’s harvest.
Mohammad Aman Hanafi, Samangan acting agriculture director, told Pajhwok Afghan News that frequent rainfalls in spring contributed to the increase in wheat yield this season.
The agriculture department’s estimates show 172,000 hectares of land is cultivated with wheat crop this year in Samangan and the land is estimated to produce 72,300 tons of the crop, he said . . .
