PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Farid Ahmad Basim stepped down as the governor of northern Baghlan governor on Monday, a statement said.
The statement from the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) received by Pajhwok Afghan News said that President Ashraf Ghani had accepted the resignation of Ahmad Farid Basim.
It added that deputy governor Abdul Qaium Niazi would run the province affairs till the introduction of a new governor.
However, Niazi told Pajhwok that Governor Basim was on vacations and he had no information about his resignation.
