JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The Education Department of eastern Nangarhar province says 5,000 more teachers are required to overcome their shortage in the province.
The department says it requires 23,000 teachers but currently 18,000 are teaching in the province.
Hasibullah Shinwari, Nangarhar education director, expressed these views while addressing a gathering marking Teacher’s Day in Jalalabad, the provincial capital.
He said during the ongoing year around 12,000 teachers were promoted and 700 fresh teachers were hired.
