JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Efforts to increase women presence in government institutions in eastern Nangarhar province have been accelerated, an official said on Monday.
Governor Shah Mahmood Miakhel said that men and women role was vital in developing a peaceful working environment and this helped eliminate ideological differences.
He was addressing a gathering women role in peace and security at the provincial UNAMA office in Jalalabad.
He said special attention has been paid to women and currently 17 percent employees of government institutions were women. He assured to facilitate women so that they could further develop and improve.
Nahid Abu Akar, UN regional direct for east, said the purpose of this gathering was to provide facilities to women in different areas and hear the problems faced by them.
Participants of the gathering shared their views on ongoing peace efforts, women awareness related matters, participation of women in peace process and getting full advantage of opportunities.
