KABUL (Pajhwok): Following a lengthy debate, the parliament on Wednesday gave the go-ahead to the national budget for the next fiscal year.
The budget has an outlay of 428 billion afghanis, with 289 billion afghanis earmarked in general spending. The development budget stands at 139 billion afghanis.
Despite criticism from some lawmakers, a majority of Wolesi Jirga members voted for the budget, approving the proposed accounts just ahead of the winter recess.
