KABUL, including murder and rape, have been registered this year in the country, officials said on Sunday.
Spogmi Wardak, deputy spokesperson for the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, told a press conference here that far this year 7041 incidents of violence against women were registered and of them 2031 referred to judicial organs.
According to her information, these cases include murder, rape, , under age marriages, beating, leaving home and forced marriages/
The highest number of incidents happened in Sar-e-Pul, Ghor, Badghis, Faryab, Jawzjan, Farah, Takhar, Balkh, Nangarhar, Kabul and Bamyan provinces.
She said wrong traditions, underage marriages, forced marriages, high bride price, poverty, illiteracy and ignorance were factors behind continued violence against the gender.
She said her ministry conducted awareness programs in 224 districts of the country to reduce violence against women.
She said perpetrators of violence against women often took refuge in areas under control of insurgents or leave the country
