JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Some women to remove obstacle in the way of peace and reconcile.
Tens of women activists gathered in front of the Provincial Council building in support of peace and said the continuation of war was not in the interest of the nation and demanded durable peace and stability in the country.
Moqadasa Ahmadzai, head of a civil society organization and organizer of the event, said the purpose their gathering was to call on the Taliban and demand durable peace in the country.
She said the Taliban and Afghan government should not create obstacle in the way of peace and reconcile.
She added: “Women were being represented in peace talks properly but warned if women rights are not defended in a proper manner then they would stage peaceful rallies to raise their voices.”
Mursal, another women activist, said that the government and the Taliban were on their route to peace but added both sides should be more cautious and should not diminish hopes for peace.
Other women in the gathering who expressed their concern over the continuation of war.
Bi bi Kochai, a women activist, said that women were victims of war because they are widow and their sons are killed.
