Salang highway closed for cargo trucks

CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): The Salang highway has been closed for cargo trucks as a result of snowfall and windstorm, an official said on Monday,

Samiullah Walizada, the highway maintenance commander, told Pajhwok Afghan News the key route was shut for cargo trucks on Sunday night.

He said trailers should not be allowed to move towards Salang, as the meteorological department had predicted more snowfall over the next 48 hours.

During this period, the official explained, passenger and other vehicles, excluding cargo trucks, could ply the route.
