KABUL (Pajhwok): The Kabul Press Club (KPC) has rejected Afghan government repeatedly published false information claiming that the KPC is not registered with government and has not paid its taxes, a statement said on Monday.

While KPC is one of the strongest organizations working to support and defend the rights of journalists and is officially registered with Ministry of Information and Culture under number 337 and has paid all it’s taxes on time.

An official statement issued by the government’s Media and Information Center yesterday said that the Kabul Press Club and the Afghan Journalists’ Defense Committee were operating illegally and that any statement they issued was for personal gains. They had published on the acquisition and had written more of similar issues.

This comes after KPC and the Committee to CPJ have issued a statement calling on the media and journalists to suspend the operation and covering Afghan Government news for three days after the assassination of Bismillah Adil Aimaq, the head of a local radio station in Ghor province and assassination of many more prominent journalists in the country.

The board of directors of the Press Club would like to thank all the journalists and the media outlets for accepting the request of boycotting the government news.

This boycott will end today. Once again, we thank all the journalists and media outlets who took part in this three-day protest with us for defending our rights.
