KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Sunday said the first shipment of Covid-19 vaccine was expected to arrive Afghanistan in the next six months.

A MoPH statement received by Pajhwok Afghan News said that Dr. Bashir Noormal, deputy public health minister for planning and policy and Dr. Wahid Majroh, deputy minister for health services, discussed preparations for the arrival and implementation of Covid-19 vaccine.

The officials discussed giving the vaccine to the most vulnerable people, protection of the vaccine, employment of 1,000 personnel for its implementation, training of vaccinators and some other issues, the statement said.

Dr. Wahid Majroh directed relevant organs to create an effective mechanism for preparation and implementation of Covid-19 vaccine.

He said the first shipment of the vaccine would arrive in Afghanistan in the next six months. The program would be supported by the World Bank and Asian Development Bank, Majroh added.
