KABUL (Pajhwok): Covid-19 infections have crossed the 90 million mark globally, with over 64 million people recovering from the pandemic, reports say.

The coronavirus was first reported in the Wuhan city of China. Later on, the disease spread to 210 countries and regions.

Most countries have been able to control the pandemic spread. But the second wave has hit many countries.

US-based Johns Hopkins University reported on Monday there were over 90 million infected individuals worldwide.

It added the virus had claimed 1.9 million lives across the globe. Over 400,000 individuals are infected and around 7,000 lost their lives daily.

Statistics indicate there are 22.9 million infections in the US, 10.4 million in India and 8.11 million in Brazil.

The virus has claimed 383,000 lives in the United States, 151,000 in India and 203,000 in Brazil.
