NEILI (Pajhwok): Businesswomen in central Daikundi complain say they lack an exclusive marketplace to sell their handicrafts and ask the authorities to take practical measures in this regard.

Most women in Daikundi villages besides household works also make handicrafts such as embroidery, Afghan clothing, carpet and burqa weaving.

Binazeer Hussaini, one of the businesswomen, said: “We urge the government to establish a handicraft market for us inside the city of Neili so women can sell their handicrafts.”

Criticizing local officials, she added they have repeatedly called for a special women’s market, but their calls fell on deaf ears.

Meanwhile, Tahereh Hosseini, another businesswoman in the provincial capital, said she collected women’s handicrafts from the city and districts and sold them in her rental shop and even sent some abroad.

She also complained about lack of a special place for women to sell their handicrafts.

Nazgul said they had no market for their products, and if a women’s market was built, their sales would increase and their business would flourish.
