KABUL (Pajhwok): Foreign Minister Hanif Atmar will visit India on March 21 for talks on a strategic partnership as and recent developments in the intra-Afghan dialogue, says a media report.

During trip to New Delhi, which will take place after a meeting on Afghanistan in Moscow on March 18, Atmar is expected to exchange notes on recent developments in the peace process with his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar.

The proposed conference in Moscow will be attended by diplomats from the US, China, Pakistan and Qatar, as well as Afghan government and Taliban representatives.

The Hindustan Times quoted unnamed sources as saying that Atmar and the Indian external affairs minister would also discuss ways of further cementing bilateral cooperation in different areas.

The past few weeks have seen a spate of fresh developments, with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken proposing an inclusive interim Afghan government, including Taliban representatives.

In October last year, High Council for National Reconciliation Chaiman Abdullah Abdullah had discussed with India’s top leadership the peace initiative.

A consistent supporter of Afghanistan, India has invested more than $ 2 billion in aid and reconstruction activities in the war-torn country.
