KABUL (Pajhwok): So far 20,000 Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and police have been vaccinated against the coronavirus, the ministries of interior and defence said Sunday.

Based on the president directions to the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), the vaccine against coronavirus must be administered first to security forces, health officials and journalists.

In a statement, MoD said the drive to administer anti-Covid-19 vaccine to ANA soldiers had started and so far 10,950 personnel had received the vaccine.

The ministry said the vaccine would be given to all military corps and ANA personnel.

SediqSediqi, deputy interior minister, said about 8,667 police personnel had received the anti-Covid-19 vaccine.

The drive to vaccinate people against coronavirus was launched on February 23 in the country.
