KABUL (Pajhwok): Foreign Minister Hanif Atmar and his Iranian counterpart Javad have exchanged views on developments in the peace process.
An Iranian news website reported on Saturday that Zarif called for preserving Afghanistan’s democratic achievements over the past 20 years.
During a telephone call from Atmar, the Iranian foreign minister tied the protection of the gains to sustainable peace.in Afghanistan.
The Iran Front Page said Zarif, who hailed on Friday the US president’s announcement of a complete troop pullout from the country, renewed Iran’s stout support for the Afghan peace drive.
For his part, Atmar voiced his pleasure with the growing relations between the neighbours and commended Tehran’s role in the Afghan peace process.
They stressed the need for speeding up the finalisation and signing of the comprehensive document for the Iran-Afghanistan strategic cooperation.
