PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan has proactively supported the peace process in neighbouring Afghanistan, says Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Speaking at an event in Islamabad on Friday, he said it was imperative to redouble efforts to promote the peace process between the Afghan parties.

“As I have said over the years, there is no military solution to the conflict. Pakistan hopes that violence will be sharply reduced,” the premier reiterated.

The Afghan parties would engage constructively to secure an inclusive, broad-based and comprehensive political settlement, Khan hoped.

Asia is home to half of the world’s population and its future is the world’s future, remarked the premier, who said the most dynamic economic growth, social change and technological advances had taken place in this region over the last 50 years.

Pakistan desired peaceful and cooperative relations with all its neighbours, he said. “We hope threats to peace and security in Asia will also be resolved.”
