KABUL (Pajhwok):The Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) on Sunday announced making operational the “Tribal Solidarity Commission” which would gather peace related suggestions and resolve big tribal disputes through jirgas.
IDLG head ShamimKhanKatawazai today at the inaugural ceremony said AsadullahWafa would head the commission in accordance with the presidential decree.
He added the commission would gather countrywide public suggestions and opinions on peace process and deliver them to the president and would work to resolve big tribal conflicts through Jirga.
Katawazai also said the commission would soon meet with tribal elders and religious scholars around the country to gather their opinion on peace and peace negotiations and then convey them to the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) and the Presidential Palace.
He added that a similar commission for women would also be launched soon and if not so then women would be included in the “Tribal Solidarity” Commission.
AsadullahWafa head of the commission and president’s advisor said the commission has one head and two deputies and that he has suggested a new position of chief of secretariat in the commission.
Minister of Border and Tribal Affairs, MohibullahSamim in the ceremony hoped the commission would be able to bring solidarity and unity among Afghans.
