KABUL (Pajhwok): Some school and university students in capital Kabul on Tuesday demanded the resumption of their educational institutes and asked the Taliban to facilitate learning.
Their demand comes after the Taliban captured 33 provinces of Afghanistan and all schools and universities were closed.
SufiaMumtaz, a university student, said: “With the change in the political system, all of us (girls) are worried that the Taliban, God forbid, will hinder our education. We Afghan girls have the right to education, study and work like Muslim girls in other parts of the world, we want progress”
She added there was need that a new political system should be formed as soon as possible and the Taliban policies should be cleared to the people.
She said: “We, the girls, want the new system that is being formed to reopen the education centers as soon as possible, so that the girls can continue their education.”
ShaikabaAizi, a literature faculty student, said: “We are human too, we have hearts, we have souls, we have desires, we are really tired of war, we want to live in a safe environment and continue our education, we have no problem with observing hijab.”
She hoped the Taliban will not stop them from education, adding that they had no problem with hijab.
