KABUL (Pajhwok): The Passport Office on Thursday announced the sending of 7,446 passports to the central post office in Kabul.
The passport office says those who have completed their documents in August 15 can receive their passports.
In its Facebook page, the passport office said these passports were sent to the post offices of Kabul on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, three days ago, the council of ministers instructed the Ministry of Interior to resume the process of distributing passport and ID cards.
According to the information of this department, the passports of another 25 thousand people are ready to be distributed, who had applied and gone through all the stages before the fall of the previous regime on August 15 of this year.
On Wednesday, Alam Gul Haqqani, acting head of passport office, said employees including women had returned to their work and currently passports would be issued under the ‘Islamic Republic of Afghanistan’ title.
He also stressed transparency in passport distribution process and pledged to distribute 6,000 passports daily.
Haqqani said 25,000 passports were ready for distribution. These passports belonged to individuals who had applied in the previous regime.
