ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Agriculture officials in eastern Kunar province on Sunday said they had started building 2,000 orchards in Sarkano and KhasKunar districts of the province at a cost of $114,673 for women to help improve their economy.
Mullah Ezatullah, director of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Department of Kunar, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the project was being implemented by Afghanistan's Next Generations NGO which is funded by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
He said the gardens were being built to improve the economy of rural women in the province.
