JALALABAD (Pajhwok): An attempt at smuggling $600,000 to Pakistan has been thwarted and a suspect detained at Torkham.
Syed Ghaziullah Hashimi, Torkham commissar, said the man who wanted to smuggle to Pakistan was arrested.
He added the smuggler had skillfully concealed the US currency notes but he was captured by the security forces.
According to Hashimi, the detainee has confessed to his crime.
Recently, efforts to smuggle the US dollars to neighbouring Iran and Pakistan have increased in Afghanistan.
