KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Seven hundred poultry farms have been closed in southeastern Khost province due to a consistent decline in chicken demand, farmers and shopkeepers say.
Syed Azeem, a chicken seller in Khost City, recalled he previously sold up to 150 chickens daily, but the number has slumped to 30.
Worried about the deteriorating market situation, he asked the government to explore a solution to the problem.
“If the situation remains unchanged, people will become poorer, and will be forced to borrow things they need,” he remarked.
