MAZR-I-SHAREF (Pajhwok): Some carpet weavers in northern Balkh province are concerned about the collapse of the carpet industry because of lack of domestic and international markets for locally produced rugs.
“Tens of carpet businessmen closed their carpet weaving companies due to the lack of buyers”, GhulamSakhi, one of carpet producers told Pajhwok Afghan News:
“Many of the carpet weaving factories are closed and nearly half of professional weavers have switched to other jobs”.
