JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The Torkham-Jalalabad Road was closed for traffic for a short time on Saturday over the killing of a tribal elder in the Momand Dara district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said.
Information and Cultural Affairs Coordinator Qureshi Badloon told Pajhwok Afghan News unknown gunmen killed Malak Jameel on Friday night in Hazar Naw area and his body was recovered early Saturday.
A delegation from the Governor’s Office had visited the area, he said, suspecting that personal enmity could be the motive behind Jameel’s killing.
“They had a family dispute. A member of his family said some suspects took the elder out of his home and killed him later on.”
In the past two days, Jameel is the second tribal elder to be killed. On Friday morning, a tribal elder was murdered in Chaparhar district.
