KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Over 15,000 tonnes of grapes worth more than $8 million have been exported by southern Kandahar province this year, an official said on Monday.
Abdul Baqi Bina, deputy head of the Kandahar Chamber of Commerce, said 15,282 tonnes of grapes worth over $8 million exported from the province this year.
“There was a decline in the yield of grapes this year and exports of the fresh fruit also fell as a result. The crop was first hit by drought and later unexpected rainfall,” he explained.
