FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Farmers in western Farah province have turned to cultivating cotton crop that has good harvest this year.
Abdul Ghani Abid, an official of the Agriculture Department, said cotton harvest doubled this year and the government was striving to promote the cultivation of cotton.
He said farmers were satisfied with their harvest.
Rahmatullah, a grower in Farah city, said: “I cultivated cotton crop on one acre of land and it produced more than 700 kilograms.” He said the cultivation of cotton cost less compared to hashish and opium.
