KABUL (Pajhwok): About 2,723 Afghan refugees returned from neighboring Iran during the past two days, the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said on Monday.
On its twitter page, the ministry said these Afghan refugees returned to the country through Nimroz’s Silk Bridge and Herat’s Islam Qala port on Saturday and Sunday.
The ministry said 445 persons of the returnees were introduced to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for assistance.
Meanwhile, Nimroz Refugee Affairs Department said of the returning Afghan refugees, 246 were introduced to IOM for assistance.
Last week, 3,632 Afghan refugees returned to the country from Iran through these routes.
