KABUL (Pajhwok): Over a hundred tonnes of low quality and expired food stuff have been destroyed in capital Kabul, the Ministry of Public Health said on Wednesday.
Haidar Khan Haidar, head of disease prevention and control of the MoPH, said 102 tonnes of goods that destroyed included non-alcoholic beverages and different food items.
He said these low-quality items had been collected in different areas of Kabul City in the last two months.
He asked the production and importing companies to avoid producing and importing low-quality and expired products.
He added the outdated items collection campaign had launched in the entire country and would be continued.
Dr. Mohammad Amin Hashimi, food safety controller, told Pajhwok the food should be used for proper operation of the human body but not to cause various diseases.
He added low-quality food weaken the immunes system of the body and the body could not fight various diseases.
According to the officials of the department of environmental health of the ministry, in the last six months this year, they had destroyed 450 tons of outdated and low-quality food.
