KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) on Saturday said it provided free medical services to nearly one million destitute patients during the past five months.

The society on its twitter page said its health department provided health services to 955,831 patients across the country in the past five months.

The services provided include first aid, OPD, vaccination, MCH, dressing, examinations and others.

ARCS added that besides childbirth and malnutrition, it also provided free health services to children suffering from congenital heart defect.

Across the country, the society has 46 fixed basic clinics, one complete health clinic, 61 mobile health clinics, 28 sub-health clinics, 36 immunization projects, 40 health camps and community-level first aid volunteer teams that provide medical services to the needy and poor citizens.

A few days ago, ARCS acting head Maulvi Matiullah Khalis travelled to central Logar province where he said the society with the help of some Islamic countries provided food and non-food items to 300,000 deserving families across the country during the past one year.
