PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The mother-child mortality rates have dropped in central Logar province thanks to the good performance of midwives, an official said on Monday.
Addressing a gathering marking International Midwives Day, the provincial public health director said it was due to the good performance of midwives in remote districts that the maternal and child mortality rates had decreased.
Sayed Rahman Qadri said the number of trained midwives had increased in Pul-i-Alam and remote districts compared to the past, resulting in a significant drop in mother-child mortality rates.
