The Turkish Supreme Election Council officially declared Erdoğan as the winner of Sunday’s presidential runoff.
Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hassan congratulated Erdogan on winning the runoff presidential election.
He expressed his hope that Erdogan would give more strength, stability and religious service to Turkey, which has a special importance in the region and the world. “May the brotherhood and friendship of the peoples of Afghanistan and Turkey be always”.
“I would like to express my gratitude to my people who made us live this democracy holiday,” Erdoğan said following the tally.” We will deserve your trust.”
Erdoğan’s triumph in the Turkish Republic’s centenary year comes after one of the most hotly contested presidential elections in recent times.
Voters returned to the polls for the runoff election after Erdoğan and Kılıçdaroğlu each failed to secure more than 50% of the votes in the first round of voting on May 14.
