KABUL (Pajhwok): US special representative for Afghanistan Thomas West has called “very important” the significant decrease in poppy cultivation in Afghanistan.
West tweeted: “Reports that the Taliban have implemented policies to significantly decrease opium poppy production this year are credible and important.”
He said every country in the region and beyond had a shared interest in an Afghanistan free of drugs.
Meanwhile, Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, tweeted that the cultivation of poppy had reduced to zero after the decree from the supreme leader Maulvi Haibatullah Akhundzada.
