JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Nearly 700 youth have been employed under work for food program in Khewa district of eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Thursday.
Nangarhar Rural Rehabilitation and Development head Maulvi Qismatullah Mubarez told Pajhwok Afghan News the work for food program was being supported by World Food Program (WFP) and technically implemented by the Rural Rehabilitation Development Organisation (RRDPO).
The youth are employed in development projects in the district centre of Khewa and Shigai, Badeli, Grik, Qalatak and Kashkot areas, Mubarez said.
These laborers will be employed for a period of six months and each will be given 50 kilograms of wheat, 5 kilograms of cooking oil, 6 kilograms of pulses, a quantity of salt and some energetic food for children monthly.
The youth are happy for being employed and given the chance to work for their country’s development.

Provincial officials say efforts are underway to extend the work for food program to other districts. They say needy people will be identified and employed to work.
