MEHTHARLAM (Pajhwok): About 200,000 fruit-bearing and ornamental saplings will be planted as part of a tree plantation drive kicked off on Wednesday in eastern Laghman province, an official said.
Toryali Paigham, an official of the provincial Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the saplings were being distributed to citizens in center Mehtharlam and Alishang and Qarghayi districts with financial support of the World Food Programme (WFP) and Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
He added: "For the purpose of protecting and revitalizing pastures in the mentioned areas, 190,000 different plants such as 51,000 olives . . .
