Doha meeting on Afghanistan enters 2nd day

KABUL (Pajhwok): The third UN-convened meeting on Afghanistan in Doha entered its second and final day on Monday.

On day two, support for the private sector, combating narcotics and finding alternative livelihoods for farmers will come up for discussion.

Representatives and envoys from 30 countries and international bodies are participating in the two-day conference, which began Sunday evening.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) chief spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid wrote on his X handle second day’s discussions had commenced.

The IEA delegation was scheduled to make two separate presentations to the Doha forum, Mujahid wrote.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) and Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) will make the presentations on supporting Afghanistan’s private sector.

Separately, then the Ministry of Interior (MoI) will highlight the measures IEA is taking to combat drugs and find alternative livelihoods for farmers.
