AIBAK (Pajhwok): As many as five health related projects costing 38 million afghanis have been completed in northern Samangan province, an official said on Monday.

A ceremony in this regard was attended by Deputy Public Health Minister Maulvi Mohammad Ishaq Sahibzada, Governor Damla Mohammad Shoib Resalat, other officials and tribal elders.

Public Health Director Maulvi Muhibullah Bahaduri said these five projects included construction of a perimeter wall of provincial hospital and PHD, construction of a hanger for parking, a rope around the green park, construction of more than 20 health nests in different parts, purchase of medical supplies and the installation of solar systems at 20 health clinics and 10 health centers.

Funded by MoPH and UNDP, the projects cost 38 million and 50,000 afghanis, he explained.

According to him, when the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan surged to power, the health sector had been struggling with many shortcomings, but after implementation of these projects, the problems would be solved to some extent.

On the other hand, Governor Damla Mohammad Shoib Resalat said the health sector had not received necessary attention for the past 20 years, but all problems will be partially solved with the inauguration of these projects.

Resalat emphasized that he supported all projects especially health schemes and asked organizations to cooperate.

“MoPH is trying to increase the implementation of health projects in the country,” Sahibzada said.

“Today is a happy occasion that people's problems have been solved and they don’t need to go abroad, which is considered a great achievement for the health sector.”
