Agreement signed to build cement factory in Logar

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Mine and Petroleum has signed an agreement worth 145 million afghanis with a private company to build a cement production factory in central Logar province.

The agreement was signed between Acting Minister Hedayatullah Badri and head of Afghan SACO Company Zaidan in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar.

At a ceremony in this regard, Badri said since the Islamic Emirate’s takeover, agreements on four cement projects valued at least $623 million have been signed with domestic and foreign investors.

Badri said this agreement with Afghan SACO Company was worth $145 million and 2,500 tons of cement would be produced daily for the next 30 years.

The company will also provide health and educational services to residents of the province, he added.

MoMP spokesman Hamayoon Afghan explained the area of this mine is 59 square kilometers.

Happy with this agreement, he considered it an important opportunity for self-sufficiency in the cement production sector.

Zaidan expressed his satisfaction with this agreement and added they will carry out this project in compliance with the laws of the Islamic Emirate and serve the local people.
