Beehives distributed to 100 people in Laghman

MEHTARLAM (Pajhwok): The Refugees and Repatriation Affairs Department has distributed beehives to 100 people to help them set up small businesses in eastern Laghman province, an official said on Saturday.

Head of Refugees and Repatriation Affairs Maulvi Ghulam Rahman Bilal told Pajhwok Afghan News the department provided beehives with financial support of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to 100 people to help them set up small businesses in Qarghi district of Mehtarlam city.

This assistance valued 7.9 million afghanis.

According to him, first they trained the recipients for three months and then distributed 114 kilograms of sugar, five boxes of bees, five empty boxes, two honey extraction machines, a tent, and a beekeeping kit to each of them.

Meanwhile, the aid recipients asked the government to extend this series to other poor families in order to support them to establish small businesses.
