KABUL (Pajhwok): Da Afghanistan Bank acting governor Noor Ahmad Agha has said developing banking ties with Uzbekistan could lead to further expansion of trade relations between the two countries.
A statement from Da Afghanistan Bank said a high-ranking delegation of the Islamic Emirate visited Uzbekistan and Agha met with the governor of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, Timur Ishmetov.
It is worth noting that the Afghan delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, left Kabul for Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, on a two-day official visit yesterday.
According to Akhund’s office, the visit is aimed at developing political, economic, trade and transit relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan and attracting Uzbek investors to invest in various sectors in Afghanistan.
The statement says the two sides discussed the development of bilateral cooperation, providing facilities in the field of bank transfers, capacity building, and the use of national currencies of both countries in trade transactions.
The Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank described banking relations between the two countries beneficial and said they could lead to further development of trade relations.
He added that Da Afghanistan Bank was committed to having constructive relations with all countries of the world in the field of banking and providing necessary facilities in the field of banking in Afghanistan at the national and international levels.
The head of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan noted the role of the banking sector in the development of trade between the two countries as valuable and called for bilateral cooperation in this regard.
