KABUL (Pajhwok): Chinese Ambassador in Kabul Zhao Xing says his country is ready to assist Afghanistan in the construction of townships for refugees.
He said this at a meeting with Minister of Refugee and Repatriation Maulvi Abdul Kabir, the Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation (MoRR) said in a statement.
Zhao Xing emphasised the importance of political and diplomatic links between Beijing and Kabul over the past few decades, the statement added.
He also reaffirmed China’s commitment to continuing cooperation with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) in economic development and investment sectors.
The Chinese ambassador reiterated Beijing’s readiness to support Afghanistan in building townships for refugees.
He praised Afghanistan’s economic progress and opportunities.
For his part, Abdul Kabir said the forced expulsion of Afghan refugees from neighbouring countries had affected aid distribution in Afghanistan.
He announced the caretaker government’s plans to construct townships for Afghan refugees and underscored the need for cooperation from humanitarian organisations in this regard.
He assured the Chinese ambassador that all assistance would be distributed transparently to those in need.
